Zoning Code Update 

The City of Garfield Heights recently updated and modernized its zoning code to align with the recommendations outlined in the City’s Master Plan and the Turney Road Transit-Oriented Development Study. Final edits will be completed before the new code goes into effect on December 25, 2025. Additional information and resources are available through the links provided below.

    1. ZoneCo presented on the diagnostic report to the steering committee on December 13, 2023, at 3:00pm.
    2. ZoneCo presented on the diagnostic report to the City Council on January 22, 2024, at 6pm.
    3. ZoneCo presented on the calibration of the proposed code to the City Council on July 22, 2024, at 6pm.
    4. OHM and the City operated a public open house on the calibration of the proposed code on September 17, 2024.
    5. ZoneCo presented on the calibration of the proposed code and the results of the public open house to the City Council on October 15, 2024.
    6. OHM and the City operated a public open house on the calibration of the proposed code on November 19, 2024.
    7. OHM and the City operated a public open house on the code draft at the Mayor’s Town Hall meeting on August 13, 2025.
    8. ZoneCo presented on the code draft to the City Council on September 22, 2025.
    9. First reading by City Council for the adoption of the updated zoning code on October 27, 2025
    10. Second reading by City Council for the adoption of the updated zoning code on November 10, 2025
