  1. From Mayor Matt Burke

Mayor's Message

  1. Welcome to Garfield Heights, your gateway to opportunity! Our city is centrally located in Cuyahoga County near I-480 and I-77, just 15 minutes from downtown Cleveland, major attractions, and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. This prime location, paired with our strong sense of community, makes Garfield Heights a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.

We are a full-service community with a diverse and growing business environment. Local favorites like Arthur Treacher’s, Mr. Hero, Charley’s Cheesesteaks, and Wingstop support community events, while major employers, including Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital, Overdrive, MTech, Innoplast, and the Cuyahoga County Campus—provide excellent job opportunities. Residents can also enjoy convenient dining and grocery options with Applebee’s, Miss O’s Café, Giant Eagle, Aldi, Dave’s, and Marc’s.

Through strategic investments in technology, we’ve reduced crime by more than 30%, helping make Garfield Heights one of the safest communities in Ohio and earning us a place among the top 25 best places to live in Northeast Ohio. Our amenities, including the Garfield Heights Pond at the Garfield Park Reservation and our recreation center, offer wonderful spaces for leisure and family activities.

Our schools are a point of pride as well. The Garfield Heights City School District meets state standards and recently renewed its levy. Trinity High School, another respected institution, is also part of our community. We’re proud of the many accomplished individuals who have called Garfield Heights home, including Beth Stolarczyk, Wilma Smith, and America’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer winner Charity Lockhart.

As your mayor, and as someone who has lived and raised a family here—I am committed to providing services that reflect the pride we share in our city. Please sign up for updates on our redesigned website at www.Garfieldhts.org. Once again, welcome to Garfield Heights. We’re happy to welcome you home!
