and a range of services, activities and volunteer opportunities which promote
personal growth, health, friendship and independence for older persons.
The Garfield Heights Senior Center is located in The Civic Center, 5407
Turney Road. The Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Lunch Program
- Nutritious hot lunches served Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m.
- Sponsored by Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging and the City of Garfield
Heights.
- Cost: $1.00 donation.
- Reservations required one week in advance.
- Nutrition classes offered through Ohio State University Extension Service,
Cuyahoga County.
- Transportation to the program for Garfield Heights residents

In-Home Services
Home
delivered meals
- For seniors confined to their homes.
- Available to impaired residents 60 years of age or older.
- Meals are delivered Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Daily contact with our staff to assure residents' safety and well being.
- Home visits by our Social Worker to assist with needed supplemental
services.

on Wheels
- Available to Garfield Heights residents who can afford the meals.
- Meal cost: $3.95 - $4.75 daily.
- Regular meals, larger meals and special diets offered.
- Meals delivered between 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Work
- Our Social Worker will provide in-home or on-site assessment of needs to
identify services to benefit senior residents.
- Assistance in learning about services available.
- Assistance in applying for benefits.
- Support regarding the challenges of aging, loss, and illness.
- Follow-up services to include recommendations, education, guidance,
support and assistance in obtaining services.

Bank
- Sponsored by the City of Garfield heights and the Cleveland Food
Bank. The Food Bank is available to income-qualifying residents on the
third Friday of every month, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Senior Activities
All activities are held at the Senior Center, 5407 Turney Road,
Garfield Heights. Yearly registration is required.
Nance Rayokovich is the on-site Activities
Administrator. She is responsible for overseeing volunteers and
volunteer-lead programs, leading some of the exercise and art classes as well as
putting together the annual trips. She can be contacted at 216-475-3244.
Pinochle Tournaments
- 1st Friday of the month at 12:30 p.m.
- Cost is $1.00.

- Daily - informal games if players are available.
Machine
Bowling
- League bowling January through May.
Shuffleboard
- Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

- Materials furnished to complete projects.
- Opportunities to make items for hospice patients or others in need.

- Geared toward seniors: 22 minutes of low-impact movements to music.
- Class is FREE.
Strength
Training
- Held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 p.m.
- Incorporates stretch bands and weights.
- Cost $0.50.
Flexibility
Class
- Men and women join a muscle flexibility class working all muscle groups
and having a good time too!
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday - 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Cost $0.50.

Cleveland Indians Baseball
Game
To all Garfield Heights residents
60 years of age and over - come and join us on our trip to Progressive Field and
cheer on the Indians while they battle the MINN. on Tuesday,
May 27th.
The City of Garfield Heights and
the Senior Center are hosting this trip for all residents who are 60 years of
age and older. All seniors are invited to join us for a relaxing trip to
Progressive Field. Free snacks, ticket and transportation will be provided for
those attending. Trip requires some walking.
Only 140 tickets will be
available. Senior may begin registering on April 14th by stopping in at
the Senior Center, 5407 Turney Road, Monday through Friday between the hours
of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. You must bring PROOF OF RESIDENCY and
can only register yourself and your spouse. Registration will end as soon
as the 140th person is registered.
