The Bureaus | S.E.A.L.E. | Miscellaneous Services
The Garfield Heights Police Department is located at 5555 Turney Road. Within the Police Department there are several groups that perform various functions. These are known as bureaus. Additionally, our Police Department has combined resources with other communities to provide specialty services.
The Patrol Bureau provides around the clock general patrol
services throughout the city.
The Detective Bureau performs criminal investigations, prepares cases
bound over to Grand Jury, maintains evidence, photos and fingerprint files.
The Juvenile Bureau performs criminal investigations involving
juveniles, maintains records and acts as the liaison between schools/community and the
Police Department.
The Traffic Safety/Enforcement Bureau performs traffic engineering
studies, school guard supervision, accident investigation, operate radar and maintain all
traffic signaling devices in the City.
The Staff Services Bureau provides support by maintaining equipment and
buildings as well as crime prevention and training for Police Officers.
S.E.A.L.E. is a co-operative effort consisting of seven cities including Bedford, Bedford Heights, Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Oakwood, Solon and Walton Hills. Officers from these communities provide the following services:
S.W.A.T. Team (Special Weapons and Tactics)
Bomb Disposal Team
Crisis Intervention/Hostage Negotiation Team
Narcotics Investigation/Enforcement Unit
Communications Unit
The K-9 Unit is used to for searching buildings for unauthorized
persons, evidence, narcotics, tracking criminal suspects and the protection of officers.
The Auxiliary Police Unit consists of 32 individuals who assist with
traffic and security throughout the City during City functions and sporting events. For

The D.A.R.E. program is an educational drug prevention program. A
Related program is the G.R.E.A.T. Program (Gang Resistance Education and Training). For

The Safety Town program is operated during the summer months and teaches
pre-school children basic traffic rules and related safety issues. Call
