Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Henry Warren, who advised that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss Ordinance 10-2003 regarding the transfer of the Cranwood Recreation Center which has been determined to be necessary for the city’s plan for urban development or urban renewal.
Mr.
Bukac gave a summary of the background and the various uses of the center over
past years. Currently, the center is
used very infrequently.
Ms.
Mayes as well as Noreen Kuban explained the details of how the center would be
used for a non-profit community organization, Even Start Family Literacy
program that is funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of
Education. The organization would
assume total
responsibility
for the building. Any groups who are
currently using the center can continue to do so.
Chairman
Henry Warren would like the Ordinance to be amended to include a statement that
the building would continue to be open to the public in the community and that
rental fees, when necessary, would be determined and administered by the
building proprietor.
It was recommended by Clmn Liotta, and seconded by Chairman Henry Warren, to withdraw the Ordinance from Committee and be put to a vote at the regular Council meeting on Monday, February 24, 2003. Chairman Henry Warren requested that the Law Department also include a sample copy of the draft of the deed in the packet for the Council meeting.
Moved
by Clmn Liotta to adjourn and seconded by Chairman Henry Warren. Meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
Respectfully
submitted:
