BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

CITY OF GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OHIO

Monday, January 6, 2003

Janet Farr, Chairman of the Building Committee, called the meeting to order at 7:52 P.M.

Members Present: Vincent Liotta, Councilman of Ward 3

Debra Sarnowski, Councilwoman of Ward 4

Others Present: Tracy Mahoney, Councilwoman of Ward 6

Nancy Marincic, President of Council

Joseph M. Suster, Councilman of Ward 5

William Wervey, Building Commissioner

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Resolution No. 60-2002, sponsored by Clmn Warren, a Resolution requiring all businesses and apartment complexes with over 12 units to construct and maintain enclosed areas for all garbage bins, containers, and dumpsters.

Mr. Wervey commented that similar legislation, initiated perhaps by Clmn Staraitis, was passed four years ago and is in place. If problems arise owners are told to get dumpsters. If Council wants to enact this, he suggested putting it in place upon change of occupancy, because it is not always possible to set up, even in Turneytown. In his opinion new legislation was not necessary.

Discussion followed and it was mentioned that newly constructed buildings and future projects have/will have dumpster enclosures.

The Committee decided not to act upon the Resolution.

Chairman Farr moved to adjourn the meeting and Clmn Liotta seconded her motion. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
