The Department of Economic Development is the newest Department in the City of Garfield Heights. This Department was created to act as a liaison between City Hall and existing businesses, businesses looking to locate in the City and residents. The Economic Development Department is located in the Civic Center at 5407 Turney Road.
The following describes some of the services provided to businesses and residents:

Information about low interest loans through government agencies |

Tax Abatement as a result of the City being designated an Enterprise Zone |

Information about available commercial/industrial property due to the lack of a "multiple listing service" available |

Zoning co-ordination when changes are needed for a project in the City |
|
Obtain Grants for City projects |
|
Maintains a list of businesses in the City which is available to anyone |
|
Participation in the Garfield Heights Chamber of Commerce. |
|
Information about financial assistance to homeowners needing help through the Cuyahoga County Department of Development and federal programs. The Economic Development Department works closely with the City's Building Department to assist homeowners in maintaining their homes |

Grants for various types of residential programs such as the Carbon Monoxide Detector Program |
