ADULT  PROGRAMS

e-Reader Assistance  Need help getting started with downloading FREE E-books from the Library?  Stop at the Information Desk during this time with your device (Kindle, Nook, IPad, etc.) for a drop-in individual session. If you have a Nook or other eReader, you will need your own laptop to complete a download. If you have a Kindle, you will need to bring your Amazon.com account email and password.   Wed, July 23, 9:30-11am.  No registration required.

Access to Education   The Educational Opportunity Center Student Advisers will be available to provide academic advising, help with completing financial aid, and career exploration. Stop by anytime between 2 and 4pm to take advantage of the services available.  Thursday, July 17.  No registration required.

PowerPoint NextSteps  Build on what you have learned in the PowerPoint Essentials class and take your presentation to the next level. Topics include adding custom animation, hyperlinks and sound.  Prerequisite: Previous experience with Microsoft PowerPoint is required.  Since this is a group class, instructors may not be able to accommodate individualized/specialized questions or instruction.  Wednesday, July 23, 10-12Noon.  Registration required.

Digital Photography  Join Eileen for a program on beginning digital photography. Explore f-stops, shutter speed, ISO and how they relate to camera icons for better control of your final image.  Thursday, July 24, 7-8:30pm.  Registration required.

Sound Studio Orientation   Drop in sound recording orientations.  Sessions typically last 15 min.  Thursday, July 17, 9:30-10:30am.  No registration required.

Video Studio Orientation  Drop in video studio orientations.  Sessions typically last 45 min.  Friday, July 18, 9:30-11:30am.  No registration required.

Studio Support  Do you need help on a project you’ve been creating in one of our studios? Or maybe you would like to share what you’ve learned with staff and other customers? Drop in to get more in-depth staff support and feedback on your projects.  Saturday, July 19, 9:30-11:30am.  No registration required.

 

CHILDREN and FAMILIES

Storytimes are back in session through July 30!  No registration is required.

Monday, 10am: Preschool Storytime for children ages 3-5, not in Kindergarten, and their caregivers

Tuesday, 10am: Baby and Toddler Storytime for children up to 36 months and their caregivers

Tuesday, 6:30pm: Baby and Toddler Storytime for children up to 36 months and their caregivers

Tuesday, 7pm: Family Storytime for all ages with adult caregivers

Summer Lunch at the Library  Are you 18 or younger? Looking for a place to have lunch this summer? Come to the library where we will be serving brown bag lunches provided by the Cleveland Food Bank. While supplies last each day.  Monday July 21 through Thursday July 24, 12-12:30, while supplies last.

Pet Pals  Children in 2-5th  grades who struggle with reading skills will have the opportunity to improve their skills by reading aloud to very special dogs this summer. Each reader will be paired with a certified therapy dog for 20 minutes of reading. There are three sessions, if one is full please try another session. Participants should plan to attend each week. Presented by Cuyahoga County Public Library and Cleveland's Pet Pals Program of University Hospitals.   Wednesday, July 16, 7pm, 7:20pm, or 7:40pm.  and Wednesday, July 23.   Registration required.

Kid Creators  Kids 8-12 years old will use a variety of items from around the house to create projects and art using recycled materials. Kid Creators masterpieces will be featured in a branch display.  Thursday, July 17, 6:45-7:45pm.

GFH VolunTWEENS  If you are a student 8-12 years old, be a part of our student advisory team and get involved. Members will volunteer to help the library with special projects and events.  Friday, July 18, 2-3pm.  Registration required.

Wendy Mahon’s Masks  All cultures have a history of mask making. Learn to make masks using a variety of materials and techniques and about how masks are used by different cultural groups in ceremonies and festivals. Incorporating a variety of geometric shapes, participants will learn to apply concepts of two and three-dimensional design to their own creations.  Saturday, July 19, 2-3pm.  For families and children.  Registration required.

WGFH Productions: Summer Reading Talk Show  Tweens ages 9-12 are invited to join us for a session in our video recording studio to  film our very own Summer Reading talk show where we'll talk about all the books we've been reading. Spaces are limited.  Monday, July 21, 2:30-4:30pm.  Registration required.

ImaginationBuilders BuildingSession  Children ages 7-11 will use their imagination while building. We will be using Legos, Lincoln Logs, blocks, and other materials to design unique creations.  Thursday, July 24, 6:45-7:45pm.  Registration required.
