ADULT PROGRAMS
Blogging with WordPress Learn how to create a WordPress account, navigate the system, create and organize posts and customize the look of your blog. Come prepared with a topic idea and leave with your own WordPress blog. Prerequisite:strong Internet skills, familiarity with Microsoft Word, and a working email account are required. Friday, May 10th 10-12 noon. Registration required. Internet Essentials Struggling to wade through the sea of information online? Learn how to find what you're looking for and make sure it's from a trusted source on the Internet. Prerequisite: Participants should be proficient using a mouse and keyboard before signing up for this class. This program is part of the Connect Ohio Grant. Friday, May 10th 1-3pm. Cloud Computing Which is better? We will explore the differences between two free web-based applications. Both applications contain word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. Try them out and discover which one you prefer. Friday, May 17th 10-12 noon. Registration required. Prerequisite: Google Account and Windows Live Account, working knowledge of Word 2007, Excel 2007 & PowerPoint 2007. Email with Gmail Geared toward those who are new to communicating electronically. Learn how to create, send, organize and attach files to messages. Teen Library Ambassadors Do you love your library? Do you want to get involved? Help us prepare the Garfield Heights Branch library for the big move to our brand new building later this year. Join us for our team meetings. Thursday, May 16, 6:45-7:30pm. Ages 11-18. Registration required.
Teen G2P Join the Teen Video Game Group for monthly games! Play video games with other teens. (Parents: A one-time release form must be signed by parent or legal guardian for snacks.) Saturday, May 18, 2-4pm. Ages 11-18. Registration required.
CHILDREN and FAMILIES
Storytimes take a vacation for the month of May while the librarians prepare for the start of the Summer Reading Game! Pre-register for the game now! Everyone in the family can play, beginning June 1st.
Exploration Station: Making Choices For ages 3-5 and caregivers. Join us for stories and activities about making choices. Children will be able to explore through play at hands-on learning stations. Wed., May 8, 6:45-7:30pm. Registration required.
